- Provides direct and indirect social work services to students with special education services experiencing difficulties with mental health, social, emotional, and/or behavior
- Supports the referral and intake process for the team
- Assist with crisis assessment and response during the school day
- Provides direct social/emotional/behavioral skill service to students; performs mental health and SEL screenings; provides SEL, mental health and Restorative Practices support
- Connects students and families with basic needs resources; communicates, problem solves and shares information with community partners.
- Supports families district-wide in accessing community supports by determining initial eligibility and coordinating services
- Provides community outreach regarding programs and services that are available to families, through tabling at events, presenting to community ad professional groups, and particpating in collaborative spaces (in general and also specific to housing and the Homework Starts with Home program)
- Participates in the building teams such as Child Study Team
- Supports special education evaluation completion, IEP goal development, monitoring and progress reporting.
- Provides consultation and training to staff on mental health, social, emotional, and behavioral topics.
- Facilitates communication and collaboration among school, home, and community providers.
- Prior experience working in a school setting preferred
- Prior experience with SEL in schools and Restorative Practices
- Prior experience with special education due process requirements preferred
- Thorough knowledge of the policies, procedures, methods, and techniques used for assessing needs of individual students
- Thorough knowledge of federal and state mandates and local procedures and regulations relating to social and community support programs
- Thorough knowledge of school and district rules, regulations, and procedures
